I like the fact that most of the cars I see are Detroit-made automobiles. I drive a Mustang and a Chevy pick-up truck. Ann drives a couple of Cadillacs, actually. And I used to have a Dodge truck. So I used to have all three covered.?

Sending the programs back to the states is a red herring. The key bit for deficit reduction is capping their rates of growth. Which is to say, cutting their rates of growth. Which is to say, cutting them.
What Romney is essentially proposing to do is finance a massive tax cut by cutting Medicaid, food stamps, housing subsidies and job training. In other words, the neediest Americans ? and, to a lesser degree, federal workers ? will be financing a massive tax cut.
Maybe I should have just stuck to the laughing and pointing at the crowd size.
On a bright note for Romney, this cruel swipe at the poor to finance tax cuts that go mostly to the rich should be enough to secure him the Republican nomination.

High court dilemma: Can lie about medal be crime?
WASHINGTON (AP) ? Xavier Alvarez was in good company when he stood up at a public meeting and called himself a wounded war veteran who had received the top military award, the Medal of Honor.
Alvarez was lying about his medal, his wounds and his military service, but he wasn't the first man to invent war exploits.
He was, however, one of the first people prosecuted under a 2006 federal law aimed at curbing false claims of military valor.
Concerns that the law improperly limits speech and turns people into criminals for things they say, rather than do, are at the heart of the Supreme Court's review of his case and the Stolen Valor Act.
Veterans groups have come to the aid of the Obama administration, which calls the law a narrowly crafted effort to protect the system of military awards that was established during the Revolutionary war by Gen. George Washington. The high court will hear the case Wednesday, which is Washington's 280th birthday.
"They're committing fraud. They're impersonating somebody else. They take on attributes of somebody else, attributes of a hero who served honorably," said Pam Sterner, whose college term paper calling for the law wound up in the hands of members of Congress. "When you do that, impersonating someone else, that's fraud, not freedom of speech."
Civil liberties groups, writers, publishers and news media outlets, including The Associated Press, have told the justices they worry the law, and especially the administration's defense of it, could lead to more attempts by government to regulate speech.
When he established military decorations in 1782, seven years before he was elected as the nation's first president, Washington himself also prescribed severe military punishment for soldiers who purported to be medal winners but weren't. It long has been a federal crime to wear unearned medals, but mere claims of being decorated were beyond the reach of law enforcement.

Pam Sterner went back to school in her early 40s at Colorado State University in Pueblo, Colo. In a political science course, she wrote a paper that grew out of her husband's frustrations over phony award claimants whose worst punishment was public embarrassment. That paper eventually led to the Stolen Valor Act.
Doug Sterner's database did not save Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, from some embarrassment when he invited cameras and reporters to watch him pin medals on an elderly Korean War veteran in June.
The veteran, Myron Brown of Utah, said his Distinguished Service Cross and Silver Star were awarded belatedly, and he asked Chaffetz to present them to him publicly.
After the ceremony took place, Sterner and others raised questions about the medals and the Pentagon confirmed to Chaffetz in December that they were not authentic.
"Others have been burned by this. I have too, but I want to solve the problem," Chaffetz told the Salt Lake Tribune. He is planning a hearing of the House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee he leads to explore creating a government-run awards database.

MiLi Power iBox
The iPad 2?will likely last a whole day on a single charge, even with rigorous use. However, for those looking to eke out a few extra hours, a battery case could prove valuable. The MiLi Power iBox ($129.99 list) adds battery life and some protection in a Smart-Cover-compatible plastic shell, but problems with fit and construction hold this case back.
Form Factor and Design Choices
The Power iBox features a one-piece, glossy, all-plastic construction. It feels a bit cheap and flimsy, but still provides some light protection against bumps and scratches for the back of your iPad 2. The Power iBox is compatible with the Apple Smart Cover, which is good since this case is flush with the screen, providing little protection for the glass display. The case itself measures 10.07 by 7.70 by 0.59 inches (HWD) and weighs 12.48 ounces. The case is more than half the weight of the iPad 2, and when combined with the smart cover, makes the whole package pretty heavy.
A thicker hump takes up two-thirds of the back, while the last third is thinner to accommodate the smart cover's folding stand capability. However, the case still alters the viewing angle when propped up by the smart cover, making for a more awkward, nearly perpendicular viewing angle.
There are cutouts for the camera, lock switch, and headphone jack, with chintzy-feeling plastic pieces for the power button and volume rocker. The cutouts make the lock switch and headphone jack easy to access, though the fit is fairly snug on the latter, which could cause problems for headphones with chunkier plugs. The plastic buttons work okay, but feel poorly constructed and are dependent on the fickle fit of the case around the iPad.
Fit, Other Features, and Conclusions
This brings me to my biggest gripe with the Power iBox: The fit was not very precise and made it difficult to get the iPad fully secured inside. The case is one piece, which you slide the iPad into, and then snap down the top corners. It takes a good deal of force to get the iPad in and out of this case. Though it never popped off of the iPad unexpectedly, it was difficult to tell when the case was securely in place.
The Power iBox case extends past the bottom of the iPad 2, where a black band hides four blue LED battery indicator lights, plus a Power button to toggle the flow of juice. The bottom panel houses a micro USB port, which connects the Power iBox to your computer for charging. Once I connected the system to my computer, I was able to charge the case and sync my iPad, but couldn't charge the battery on the iPad itself.
MiLi packed its Power iBox with an 8000mAh battery, which they claim can double the life of your iPad 2. In our tests, however, the Power iBox came up short of that claim, adding only 4 hours, 30 minutes of life. This is still a good amount of juice, but when you consider the added bulk, the poor fit, and cheap construction, the Power iBox just doesn't seem worth the $130 price tag.

Plot
It is now the year of 2012, and the Angels and Demons are still being sent down to ruin or save the lives of the humans. In this particular trip, 3 angels and 3 demons are sent back to Earth, while their tasks are set upon each other. These tasks include killing a demon, an angel, a human, or even saving the life of one. These specific creatures are sent down for exactly four days, and as the four days pass, the chosen ones finally cross paths and sparks begin to form. When they finally learn their new 'lovers' are supposedly their enemy, they begin to worry, while hiding their relationships become hard and harder to do. If the Absolute or the Seraphim were ever to learn of this, a violent war could break out, and things will begin to "fall".

The demon is sent down to take an innocent person's life; already knowing his victim, he immediately goes after her. The victim ends up coincidently being one of the angels that were sent down. While the angel knows she's supposed to save a life, she never gets a feeling of whom, and in the end, it was her own life she was to save. As the demon begins to fall in love with the angel, he finds it harder and harder to complete his task. Will he kill her? Or will his love for her take over?

After the knowledge of such a child comes to God and the Devils attention, they both send an Angel and Demon to remove the problem, but for far different reasons.
The Devil would be please by the potential havoc the Halfling could cause, and so would want ot preserve it until adult hood, where it could protect itself.
To achieve this, he would have to send a demon which actually cared about its life, the only realistic option, the mother of the child.
The almighty would send his least compassionate Angel, perhaps one of the chaos angels which he uses to cause unexplainable havoc on the planet.
This Angel would be tasked in killing the child.
Now, the Demon would know it has very little chance of confronting the Angel directly, and so would have to disguise itself as a human, perhaps the legal guardian of the child, and somehow convince the Angel to preserve the child's life.

Alleged airport Rolex thief caught -- while wearing watch

It was only a matter of time.
Authorities say they've arrested the man wanted for stealing a Rolex watch from a security checkpoint at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport,?NBC Miami reports. ?
Igor Adrian Ramos, 37, was arrested at his Sunny Isles home Friday morning by Broward Sheriff's Office deputies, the BSO said.
When deputies knocked on his door, Ramos answered it wearing the $6,500 watch on his wrist, the Sheriff's Office said.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Gloria de Regalado had placed her belongings in the bin to get through the Terminal 3 checkpoint on Jan. 18, but didn't realize her Rolex was missing until she looked at her wrist to check the time 30 minutes later.
A review of the video showed the man behind de Regalado collect his belongings before quickly picking up the watch out of a bin and walking away from the checkpoint.
Though Ramos wasn't found in the terminal, authorities continued to look at surveillance video and were able to narrow down the options, the Sheriff's Office said.
That led them to Ramos, who they say boarded a plane to New York. According to the Sheriff's Office, Ramos travels between Florida and New York buying and selling cars.
Authorities say that are searching for a man who was caught on camera taking a woman's Rolex watch while in line at a security checkpoint at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Msnbc's Tamron Hall reports.
With his busy travel schedule, Ramos had no idea the video of him swiping the Rolex was on the news, the Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities said de Regalado was contacted and was happy to hear the suspect had been caught and she'd be getting her timepiece back.
Ramos was expected to be booked into the Broward main jail on a charge of grand theft.?

In letter, Iran says it's ready for nuclear talks (AP)
WASHINGTON ? Iran has told world powers it is ready to resume talks as soon as possible over its disputed nuclear program, according to a letter obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press, an offer that could reflect its difficulty in coping with tough U.S. and European sanctions, or amount to another delaying tactic as it moves ahead with activities that could bring it closer to developing an atomic bomb.
The letter from chief Iranian nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili was sent Tuesday, just a day before Iran claimed two major advances in producing nuclear fuel and indicated it was on the verge of imposing an oil embargo on European countries to retaliate for sanctions. The Obama administration dismissed the announcements as unimpressive and said Tehran's erratic behavior was indicative of the squeeze it is feeling as a result of hard-hitting economic measures against it.
"We voice our readiness for dialogue on a spectrum of various issues which can provide ground for constructive and forward looking cooperation," Jalili wrote in the letter to EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, the point of contact for the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council and Germany, who are demanding that Iran freeze all uranium enrichment.
Ashton had written Jalili in October, offering Iran a new round of talks toward an agreement that "restores international confidence in the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program." The West fears Iran seeks nuclear weapons, and speculation is rife that Israel may launch a pre-emptive strike to set back the program.
Jalili welcomed Ashton's statement of respect for Iran's right to peaceful nuclear energy use and said that "by committing to this approach, our talks for cooperation based on step-by-step principles and reciprocity on Iran's nuclear issue could be commenced," according to a translated copy of the letter.
A "constructive and positive attitude towards Islamic Republic of Iran's new initiatives in this round of talks could open (a) positive perspective for our negotiation," Jalili wrote. "Therefore, within this context, I propose to resume our talks in order to take fundamental steps for sustainable cooperation in the earliest possibility, in a mutually agreed venue and time."
But Jalili's four-paragraph, one-page letter offered no concessions. EU and U.S. officials declined to comment Wednesday, saying they were still studying the letter.
In Iran, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad oversaw the insertion of the first Iranian domestically made fuel rod into a research reactor in northern Tehran. Separately, the semiofficial Fars agency reported that a "new generation of Iranian centrifuges" had started operation at the country's main uranium enrichment facility at Natanz in central Iran.
White House press secretary Jay Carney called these "provocative acts, defiant acts, statements that are designed to distract attention from the demonstrated impact that the sanctions are having, the demonstrated impact that the isolation of Iran is having."
"We are very confident that the sanctions have put enormous pressure on the Iranian economy and on the Iranian regime," he told reporters. "It is not unusual for Iran to try to distract attention from those uncomfortable facts and from its overall isolation by some burst of rhetoric or making some announcement."
State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said the Iranian uranium enrichment milestone is "not terribly new, and it's not terribly impressive."
"The Iranians have for many months been putting out calendars of accomplishments, and based on their own calendars, they are many, many months behind," she said.
Asked about Jalili's letter to Ashton, Nuland said the U.S. was speaking with its partners about it. Hinting at the contents of the Iranian response, however, she said: "It may be that they felt the need to bluster on their nuclear side even as they make clear that they do want to come back to the table for talks."
Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom, speaking to reporters after an address to the Ohio Legislature on Wednesday, said the Iranian activity signaled the need for harsher sanctions on the Tehran regime.
"The world should realize if they won't stop them immediately, finally it might be too late. ... The time has come to impose more sanctions on Iran, tougher sanctions on Iran that might bring them to change their attitude. Until then, Iranians will continue," he said.

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Feb. 14) ? Bemidji State University track and field athletes Taylor Sautbine (junior; Tamarack, Minn.) and Ashley Larva (junior; Floodwood, Minn.) competed in the women?s pentathlon Feb. 12 at the 2012 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Indoor Multi Event Championship at BSU?s Gillett Recreation-Fitness Center.
Sautbine scored a win in the shot put to finish 14th, while Larva came in 15th. Sautbine also ran in the 60-meter hurdles to finish ninth before placing 15th in the high jump. Larva finished third in the 60-m hurdles and cleared 4-02.25 in the high jump. In the long jump, Sautbine finished 17th, while Larva got a season-best mark of 16-05.00 to place ninth in the event. Sautbine placed 10th in the 800-meter run and Larva placed 12th with a career-best time of 2:41.39.
The entire Bemidji State women?s track and field team returns to action Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. as the Beavers host the BSU Twilight at the Gillett Recreation-Fitness Center.

NEW YORK (Reuters) ? Websites of exchange operators Nasdaq and BATS have been attacked by hackers over the last 24 hours, causing ongoing disruptions for those trying to use the sites, spokespersons for the companies said on Tuesday.
Only the banner carrying the logo at the top of the web page for www.nasdaq.com was visible during repeated attempts to access Nasdaq's site on Tuesday afternoon. Trading in Nasdaq-listed stocks has not been affected, however.
A Nasdaq OMX Group spokesman confirmed that it had been suffering a denial-of-service attack (DOS) since late on Monday but said they had not located the origin of the attack and were unable to say when it would be resolved.

"We experienced intermittent service disruptions on our corporate website and we are working to resolve the issues," he said.
Similarly, a BATS spokesperson said the company was affected by a denial of service incident. "Our trading systems were not affected and there were no exchange customer disruptions associated with the incident," the exchange said in a statement.
The Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange have been the victims of attacks in the past. Hackers who infiltrated the Nasdaq's computer systems in 2010 installed malicious software that allowed them to spy on the directors of publicly held companies, Reuters reported last year.
A federal investigation into the 2010 cyber attack on Nasdaq found lax security practices, according to people with knowledge of the probe.
Last October, the NYSE's website was inaccessible for 30 minutes, according to an Internet monitoring company, but the exchange said there was no interruption of service.
The incident followed a video posted on YouTube, which claimed to be from the activist hacker group Anonymous.
It said the NYSE website would be "erased from the Internet" in sympathy with the then-ongoing "Occupy Wall Street" protests in Lower Manhattan.
Neither the origin of the attack nor the video could be verified by Reuters on that occasion.
A spokesperson for U.S. exchange DirectEdge said its websites have not been hit by attacks this week.

I had a very similar idea as well. I thought wanted the finance craziness to take over for a while...but do you think it starts taking a substantial toll on you? Meaning, once I got set on finance, my social life, and even some friendships took a backseat to my career goals. Eventually, you lose those friendships and finance becomes an even bigger part of your life.

- Personal life: Date, or have a relationship. Don't wait until you are ready, or make enough money to get to know that girl/guy that you like.
- Volunteer / Charity / Give back: This will keep you grounded and will do wonders for your self esteem.
- Career: Make sure you develop your career, credentials, network, etc.. don't let your "job" get in the way of developing your business skills, marketability and ability to make money.
Don't give me BS about how you don't have any time. It takes 30 minutes to call 4 relatives or friends to say hi. A 1 hour coffee is a decent 1st date, etc...
Also, realise that finance is a tool to give you options... options in your career, options to pursue other interests, options to travel, to retire earlier, etc... don't get into the trap of not setting your own "real goals" and replacing them with corporate / advertising ones.... e.g. try to progress in the corporate ladder just because it is expected even though there are other paths that might be better, or spending all of your bonus on fast cars you don't know how to drive, holidays to places you don't like to spend time with people you don't care about.... Monaco sucks when you're surrounded by gold diggers, prostitutes and middle aged men... you're better off at Hunter Mountain with your buddies or a long weekend break to South American with the nerdy girl you like.
Bonus: The next time you're sitting next to a CEO at a conference and you're discussing your non-work lives, you'll have more insight to share than which Nobu is the best one...

This whole notion of "i'll do this till I'm 40" is not realistic...most people are not going ot have enough money or time to switch careers at 40. At 40 you likely will have kids and be locked into the job that you hated 20 years ago...when you're young is when you have the flexibility to switch careers not when your 40.

I don't think its about disliking your job. I think it has to do with becoming a more rounded and complete individual. From WSO I would gather that "the Goldman Sachs" is god and anything else below is pretty much worthless. Outside of the WSO prestige bubble, very few people have heard of the top firms us monkeys drool over. Not that there's anything wrong with that..it's a great motivator and has gotten me where I am today. But I think it does take a toll on our social life. I.E. what the guy said above, always trying to be productive and trying to surround yourself with equally driven individuals.
