WEBCAM, MSN Messenger & Windows 7

I have just bought a logitech C270 HD webcam. It works on Yahoo messenger & Skype but not with MSN Messenger. I have contacted Microsoft and after many emails going back & forth they cannot solve the problem.? Only solution they can come up with is the following:

Video card adaptor is built-in type or is intergrated to motherboard. No driver installed that is why theye cannot determine if webcam is compatible with Messenger.? They suggest contacting Dell to check if video card can run Messenger.

Now my problem is I dont know what type of video card is installed.? Also I cannot see why it will work with other software programs and not Messenger.

Any suggestions to sort this problem out would be much appreciated.

  • Hi NeilW9616,

As the webcam works fine on other applications except MSN Messenger, the issue seems to be with MSN application. Let me know the version that you are running.

Have you tried reinstalling the application? Please perform the following steps to uninstall the application:

    1. Click Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
    2. Locate the MSN Messenger in the list and select it by clicking once. Then click Uninstall.
    3. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Once the application has been uninstalled, install the latest version of Windows Live Messenger from the link below:

Windows Live Messenger 2012 was released in August 2012 and is the latest version available.

Let me know if you need any information or assistance. I will be glad to assist.

    Thanks and regards,
