The UAE trainer, Mahmood Al Zarooni, concerned about his entry in the Breeders? Cup Juvenile Turf
The concern of non-American trainers and owners over the fast and firm ground conditions of Santa Anita for the Breeders? Cup Championship is true and genuine. The dirt track there are fast, while the turf is firm, both the conditions can be either make the race for the horse and there are equivalent chances of the otherwise eventuality.
One of the concerned trainers is from the Godolphin string, Mahmood Al Zarooni, who has entered the two-year-old chestnut colt, Artigiano, for the Breeders? Cup Juvenile Turf on Saturday, the second day of the extravaganza.
Mahmood Al Zarooni, who said: "I looked at the turf course earlier in the week and it was a bit firm. I hope they water it so there is a little bit of give."
He added: "The horse is in good form and everything has gone well so far. He is more relaxed and getting there.?
"I hope he breaks well from the stalls and sits behind the pace. He is not a horse who is suited to being at the back of the field. He is happy at a mile and has needed that distance.?
"It is a short straight at Santa Anita and the turf track is a bit tight, but Frankie [Dettori] knows the horse and the racecourse well."
Distorted Humor?s colt has not won any race after clearing the maiden at the second career attempt, but has qualified as a respectable runner-up at two graded outings during the 2012 campaign.
The two-year-old has always been guided by the top-class jockey, Frankie Dettori, and will once again have him in the saddle.
The American chestnut colt out of, Angel Craft, missed the Group 2 Veuve ClicQuot Vintage Point by just half-length on 1st August, 2012 at Goodwood over seven furlongs.
The race was won by, Olympic Glory, who had Richard Hughes onboard.
The next attempt of the Darley bred was in the Group 2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes on 29th September, 2012 at Newmarket over a mile. This one he missed by a length from the winner, Steeler, under the super vision of trainer, Mark Johnston.
His most recent exposure has been over good surface, and not firm or fast, so how he ends up in the race will unfold soon.
