Wisconsin-Whitewater ousted Virginia Wesleyan 76-62 Saturday night in a Division III men's basketball quarterfinal, though Menchville High graduate Chris Teasley?s 15 points led the Marlins.

Chris Davis had 33 points and 11 rebounds for the Warhawks (27-4), who will face the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (29-1) in a national semifinal at 8 p.m. Friday at the Salem Civic Center, near Roanoke. Cabrini (30-1) will take on Illinois Wesleyan (23-7) at 6 p.m.

VWC (27-4) trailed 15-3 and 30-17 before going into halftime trailing 36-26. After scoring the first point of the second half, the Marlins got no closer.

USCAA men:

Apprentice (17-11) lost 75-54 to Ave Maria (Fla.) in the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association nationals? third-place game despite Tevin Andrews? 12 points and 13 rebounds and Lewis Archer?s 11 points.

Women:

CAA semifinals:

No. 3 seed Drexel controlled the tempo and upended the two-time defending champ, No. 2 James Madison, 67-50, to reach the CAA title game in Upper Marlboro, Md.

The Dragons will face No. 1 Delaware, which romped past UNC Wilmington 66-39.

Senior guard Kamile Nacickaite had 16 points and 15 rebounds for Drexel, which never was threatened in the second half.

The Blue Hens (29-1), whose only loss all season came to Maryland, will make the NCAA tournament regardless of whether they win Sunday's 12:30 p.m. game.

Elena Delle Donne led three Blue Hens in double figures with a game-high 15 points, while also adding seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Akeema Richards finished with 13 points on 6-of-8 field-goal shooting

Drexel must upset Delaware to reach the NCAA field. James Madison, which entered the game at No. 34 in the RPI, retains hope for an at-large bid at 24-7, though its hopes took a big hit from the Dragons.

Big South semifinals:

Avery Warley had 20 points and 22 rebounds as top-seeded Liberty beat No. 5 Charleston Southern 72-52 in a Big South semifinal.

The Flames will play for the title against the host team, High Point. The second-seeded Panthers beat No. 6 seed Radford, a team coached by Kecoughtan High graduate Tajama Ngongba, 85-70. Erin Reynolds and Cheyenne Parker combined for 42 points for High Point.
