Girl Power: Why Women In Show Business Are On Top Right Now ...

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler
Who run the world? Girls!

What we can learn from the women who ruled the Golden Globes.

From Ben Affleck to Hugh Jackman, many big stars walked away from Golden Globes with awards, but I think there was one clear winner: the women.

During awards season, the hosts are always subject to criticism, from not being totally "there" (ahem, James Franco) to being too offensive (pretty much everyone else). Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler received loud cheers, uncontrollable laughs and rave reviews ? The Today Show even called them the funniest Globes hosts ever.

And, the entire country seemed to agree. The 2013 Golden Globes ratings were up by three million from the previous year and drew in the biggest crowd for the show in six years.

The SNL?graduates?kept it lighthearted, fun and hilarious. On the night that normally feels like it's dragging, the duo had us wishing the show could go on longer. Many of us were left wondering why they had never been asked to host before.

Kristen Wiig made her mark as she took center stage with Will Ferrell in what felt like more of a hilarious?SNL skit than award presentation.

Jodie Foster stole the show as she delivered a genuine Lifetme Achievement Award speech that, while confusing at times, was an honest look at her personal life and desire to be understood.

Power woman Lena Dunham proved she was on top ? twice ? as she made her way up to the stage for the show she stars in, writes, directs and produces. The Girls creator?thanked her fellow nominees for inspiring her, but she also dedicated her award?to "every woman who felt like there wasn't a space for her."

But aside from making us laugh (or cry) these lovable women who rocked the stage because they're dynamic ? they're not conventional Hollywood women. They weren't luring us in with skimpy outfits or sex. We don't love them for their ideal bodies, red carpet looks or youth ? in fact, several of these women are older. We love them because they're honest, confident and intelligent.?

At a time where society, men and even women still put a lot of pressure on each other to be a certain way, let's remember why these strong females made the awards show so enjoyable.
