DIY Room Air Freshener [DIY]

DIY Room Air FreshenerIf you have essential oils and baking soda on hand you can save a bundle on room fresheners by mixing the two ingredients in a small container and letting the baking soda absorb unwanted odors while the essential oils permeate wanted scents in your room.

Handmade craft shop weblog The Burlap Bag shares that filling a small container one-quarter full of baking soda and pouring in around eight drops of an essential oil will create a room air freshener that will last for days and perhaps weeks depending on your room. Just tuck it in an out-of-the way place and if you're concerned with spills either poke holes in a lid for your container or top it with aluminum foil and poke holes in that.

The creators use the recipe to keep down odor from their two cats. The two things I like about this is that you can easily customize the scent to whatever you like and that when the mixture no longer deodorizes properly you can still sprinkle it on your carpet and use it one last time as a carpet deodorizer. It's also great for adherents of aromatherapy and those who prefer to use less chemicals in their day-to-day lives.
