Animal magic at Kidderminster school

Animal magic at Kidderminster school

PUPILS at a Kidderminster school swapped their shirts and ties for penguin, leopard and cheetah costumes to mark the end of a special learning project.

Following a week-long study of endangered animals, children at Sutton Park Community Primary School, Greatfield Road, dressed up as their favourite creatures while raising money for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Each class at the school chose the animal at risk of becoming extinct they wanted to study and throughout the week, pupils researched, wrote poems and stories, completed art work and solved maths problems linked to their animal.

The school also hosted a well-attended family art workshop where parents worked alongside their children to complete different art activities.

At the end of the week, some children decorated elephant shaped biscuits which were sold during break and lunchtime to raise further money for the WWF.

Headteacher Marie Buckland said the topical week was the idea of Year Four pupil Bradley Woodall.
